MoDi Community
A movement powered by People, Partnerships, and Purpose

MoDi is more than an initiative — it's a growing international network of practitioners, researchers, policy advocates, and community organizers committed to monetary innovation and economic transformation.

We believe that collaboration is our greatest currency. That’s why we’ve built a space where diverse actors from the field of complementary and regenerative finance can connect, share, and co-create.

Money is not neutral — but together, we can make it meaningful.

Welcome to the MoDi community.

What does the community do?

  • Exchange knowledge: via online roundtables, shared documents, open research, and direct collaboration
  • Develop tools: supporting each other in launching, scaling, or improving monetary systems, including on technological aspects
  • Organize events: conferences, working groups, trainings, and public talks
  • Advocate together: shaping public discourse and policy around monetary diversity and democratic finance
  • Help to start your project: Setting up a functioning alternative payment system may seem daunting at first but you can think, design and implement any given type of new currency system. Let's talk first.

Foster a comprehensive legal framework to facilitate the development of CC systems

Our dedicated working group is committed to advocating for changes within the EU legal framework to foster innovation and facilitate the development of complementary currencies. We recognize the value and potential of such currencies in enhancing financial inclusivity and diversity. Our focus on areas like the Payment Service Directive (PSD) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws is geared toward promoting a regulatory environment that can enable the creation and use of complementary currencies. We are determined to influence a legal landscape that encourages financial innovation while upholding the highest standards of security and compliance.
